Chalkboard Tutorial

Hi! Today I want to share the Chalkboard Technique.  It's very simple to do and I think it's pretty fun!

All you need is some white ink, VersaMark, white embossing powder and heat gun, and black or green cardstock (for the chalkboard).  I used the new A Good Apple Set from Lawn Fawn.

You can also use a chalk bag if you'd like (like I did in the picture above).  Generally, this is used for embossing so excess powder doesn't stick to the paper, but I think it adds something extra to the chalkboard look.

Stamp your image with VersaMark and then add the power and heat emboss.

Then, grab your white ink.  I have a few types, and for for this project, I used VersaMagic's white ink.  I used a Q-Tip to gently add some white ink around the embossed area, to make it look like excess chalk.  You can use your finger, a dauber, some cotton balls, etc. Whatever works best for you!!!!

I also added some white around the edges, too.

Then I added the eraser and chalk to make it look like a real chalkboard (and is it sad that I'm thinking most kids today don't even know what a chalkboard is - they only know dry erase/white boards??!?!!).  :)

I added dimension on three sides so the side that sits on the Lawn Trimming Hemp Cord wouldn't be uneven.

Stamps, Patterned Paper, Hemp Cord: Lawn Fawn
Cardstock: Recollections, Neenah
Embossing Powder: Ranger
Ink: VersaMagic
