Papertrey Ink April Blog Hop

Hi and welcome to my blog! If you are here for the PTI Blog Hop, you are in the right place! If you have time - take a look around my blog.  I have another post listed for today - I'm hosting the Simply Scrapping Crafts Blog Hop today, too and there are some excellent projects out there - lots of them with Papertrey stamps!!! There is a lot of Papertrey love out there in the SSC Galleries!!!

Boys To Men

This month's blog hop is dedicated to all the boys and men in our lives! Now's your chance to create Father's Day projects, boy birthday cards and more to build up your stash! Focus on masculine color schemes, fresh pattern combinations, understated embellishments and unique uses of images you may already have in your stash!

Here is my take:

I used the Mat Stack and stamp in a way I never have before - I masked the airplane into the Mat Stack! I also tried a new color combo and just fell in love with it.... I usually avoid orange, but when it's paired with the turquoise, I am smitten!!!

I used Copics to color in the plane:

I am going to give this card to my best friend's son, who will be turning 6 in June, so I stamped 6's in the corners using stamps from the Banner Builder Collection.

I mentioned earlier that I masked the airplane.  Here are a few quick shots and instructions about how I accomplished this:

First I die cut and stamped the image onto 80# White Cougar Cardstock.

Then, I punched a circle onto a separate sheet of paper and adhered it down with removable adhesive.  I know a lot of people use Post Its for this technique, too.  I just didn't have any that were big enough on hand!

I then stamped the image onto the paper and the punched hole, so part of the image ends up on my scrap piece of paper.

After pulling away my mask, this is what it looks like!

I colored it in with some Copics and BOOM! All done with my focal point of the card! EASY PEASY!

Thanks for stopping by today! I'll see everyone on the message boards later today and good luck with the rest of the PTI Hop!!!
