MTME Pretty Patterns Sketch #31

Hi!
Today I have a fun card to share with you! I participated in the My Time Made Easy Pretty Patterns Sketch again this week.  I downloaded some more free digi papers from My Time Made Easy and paired it up with a cute Hero Arts stamp that I haven't inked up in a while.

This card is perfect for my husband.  He is a master chef.  I always tease him that he is my very own Bobby Flay.  So, I made this with him in mind.

I used Kraft for the base and layered the MTME paper along with some Basic Grey stocks.  I did some wild sewing on the edge - I just decided to go back and forth a few times, not really trying to keep anything straight and I like the messy look it created.  I usually try to make perfectly straight lines when I sew, so this was kinda cool to just do whatever.

I stamped the image onto Kraft and colored it in with Prismacolor pencils.  Then I used a Copic marker to trace around the image and make it pop a little bit.  I've been doing this quite a bit recently - I just really like the way some of the colors look on the Kraft.

For the background, I cut out 9 squares, inked the edges and placed them on some stock.  I added some buttons with twine to the corner and the card was done!!!!

I LOVE Butterflies

Happy Thursday! I have a quick little post for you today!!! This is a card I made a few weeks ago that never made it up onto the ol' blog!

I have all kinds of projects, photographed and ready to go, but so many of them don't make it on my blog! This one I created for a family friend's birthday. She loves butterflies (ME TOO!), so the theme was an easy one!  I used Papertrey Ink stamps and some sweet DCVW papers.  I added a little stitching, which I really, really like!

I think the 3-D effect for the butterflies just works!!! Thanks for stopping by today - I'll have another post for you later today!!!

A fun Spinner Card

Hi!
I just have a quickie post today.  I'm still trying to get my computer back to normal after that awful virus and I've come down with a wicked cold, so I'm coughing all over the place today.  ICK! Fingers crossed it goes away soon so I can enjoy Memorial Weekend!

Today I have a fun spinner card I made with an SP and Company stamp sentiment and a Stampin Up stamp.  The SP sentiment is from Lovely Labels, one of my favorite stamp sets.  I thought this would be a fun Thank You Card.

A few recent projects for Simply Scrapping

Hi there!
I just wanted to post a few recent cards I've done for Simply Scrapping Crafts.  I am in charge of the Color Combo Design Group and I design for the Sketchy Saturday team, so I've been cranking out projects like crazy the last few weeks!!! Check out the site and become a member (it's free) - there are so many talented people on SSC!

This one I created for our Blog Hop, which will take place on April 25th.  The theme is Spring.  Love the little bee on the flower - he's got a set of 3D wings with some glossy accents on them!!!

This one is for this week's Color Combo challenge.  I have a Kraft and Papertrey Ink obession, so I had to use both of those elements in this card.

This last one was for this week's Cricut Challenge.  I love, love, love using vellum with my Cricut.  I also love making things look old and distressed.  I used some paint, sponges and Tim Holtz distress ink for this one.

Mojo Monday #180

Well, I was trying to get a Mojo Monday Challenge done every single week, but I've missed the last few.  This week's challenge really grabbed me, though.  I've never made a circle card before, so I decided to give it a shot.  I really liked the results.  It's not often people receive circular cards and my mom will love this one.  I made it with her birthday in mind since it is next week.

This week's sketch:

I knew I wanted to use Kraft as my background and I decided to use my PTI woodgrain stamp to give it a little somethin'-somethin'!!!

I also die cut the flower shape out of foam and adhered it to patterned paper to give the whole thing more dimension.  I love pop dots, but this gives it much more thickness all the way through.  I used PTI stamps for the tulips (LOVE THEM!) and the sentiment.  I opted not to have the ribbon run from top to bottom.  Since I used the ribbon as the 'leaf' or in place of the rectangle towards the top, it was just too much.  And no matter what I did, I just didn't like it, so I went with my normal "less is more" approach and just left it alone.  :)

The flower die and edge die at the top are PTI.  I made the actual card using a Quickutz die I had.  I had fun experimenting with this one.  I know I'm going to be making more circular cards in the future.  If I would have known how easy it was, I would have made tons of them already!!! Boo to you!!!!

Hi all!
I'm at it again - here is another card created for the Cupcake Inspirations Challenge this week.  :-)  Here is the inspiration picture:

I knew right away I wanted to do something with a ghost - I almost NEVER use any ghost stamps (I'm always stuck on spiders and bats).  So, I went through everything and....

Here's my little ghost (with a few little bats, too!).  I colored him in with a QTip with Fresh Snow Ink and I used a Spica Glitter Pen on his eyes.  The bats are stamped with VersaMark onto Kraft cardstock.

I also stamped some spider webs (everywhere!!!) and I added a few fun embellishments.  For the ribbon, I looped it a few times and I added the embellishement in the center of it in place of a button or flower.

A Few More Projects!

I've been working on random cards and projects the last few weeks and I wanted to share them with you!

This is a card I made for my mom to thank her for everything she does.  I gave it to her with a sparkly black pumpkin she had been eyeing at the store.  She also loves fall (like me!), so I stuck with a fall themed card.  It literally took me under 10 minutes.

The next card is for my Sister-in-Law's birthday.  She's a big reader, so I figured this was appropriate.  I used Copics to color in the twine and flowers so everything matched.  I did a little heat embossing on the Kraft cardstock, too.

This next one is for my Mother-in-Law's birthday (I know, my poor husband - both of their birthdays and MINE, plus our wedding anniversary ALL in October).  I used my Copics to color in the flowers.  I really like how this one came out.  This was one of those cards that I started and then I didn't know what to do with it.  The Mojo had to kick in first!  :)



And lastly, here is an altered mint tin I made with (surprise!!!) Christmas tags inside.  This is going to be a St. Nicholas Day gift.  I think I'm going to add some more tags to it, though, but label tags, not hanging tags! I'm running out of room inside and the labels will take up less space.

CARDS Blog Challenge Part 2

Like Roxanne, I also entered the CARDS challenge (/http://northridgemedia.net/blogs/cards/). I was super excited about some of the categories. I have some awesome Hero Arts stamps that I bought last holiday season that I never used (I know, this is a travesty, for sure).

So, for my first card, I used one of those stamps along with some silver embossing powder, 

Copics and stickles.

I chalked the outer edges of the background to make it pop a little bit and I added some ribbon behind the first frame.

My second card was for the Friendship Category.  I tried a new technique I've never done before - I made a rosette.  I wanted it to really be the focal point.

I added a button in the middle to pull it all together along with the "Hey Friend!" tag.

I also embossed and sanded some core'dinations stock.  Here is the finished card:
