Birthday Girl

Today I have a fun and bright card.  I chose my colors and theme from this weeks' Cupcake Inspirations Challenge (#100 - woot woot!!!).  I was inspired to use foam on my card from this week's Make it Monday by Papertrey Ink.  I decided to get funky and I die cut some fun foam (from my son's stash, of course!) and I then embossed it.  I inked it up and used it as a stamp.  You can see in the above picture the resist I got from embossing.  Cool, huh?

At that point, I was still wanting to use more foam, so I die cut some more and I stamped designs on them.  I used some stamps from the PTI Frames set and a butterfly from thte PTI Butterfly Dreams.  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the dimensional butterfly and another PTI die for the scalloped tag that's partially hidden in the background.

My friend's daughter has a birthday coming up this month and this one is perfect for her.

I have to say that I'm going to use the foam technique to make my own stamps more often.  I just used some removable adhesive and adhered it to a clear block to stamp it.  It came right off with no problems and the results are one of a kind!

Thanks for stopping by today!!!

PTI Make It Monday {Vellum Challenge}

I'm so excited about the Make It Monday series from Papertrey Ink.  We are in Week 2 and I'm already looking forward to see what Week 3 will be like.  Check out Papertrey's You Tube Channel.  They have some excellent tutorials on there and you will also find the details for that week's Make It Monday Challenge.  This week's card involved vellum.  I was vellum-obsessed for quite a while, but I've let it go the last few years.  In the printing industry, we call it Glama and I HATE running it through my digital press at work because it jams over and over again.  So, I've really avoided it recently.  It felt good to play around with it again!!!

Here's a little close up of the vellum.  Wow, did it cut nicely in the Cuttlebug with the PTI Banner die.  The edges are so crisp and clean - love it!

I've been waiting for an opportunity to use this stamp set.  I wanted to make sure the flowers stood out a little bit.  I tried to put some extra embellies on them, but it just looked too heavy, so I left it with just the flowers popping out a bit.

I couldn't welcome in Spring without using purple!!! Since I didn't have any matching ribbon, I used white and I inked it up with some VersaInk so it would match.  The center window was created with Spellbinders Labels One dies.  All of the stamps I used are Papertrey Ink.

Thanks for looking and I'd love to hear your comments!

Make It Monday

Tonight, I'm posting a card I made for the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday Series.  Details about this weekly challenge can be found here.  This week, we were supposed to use similar sentiments several times in different ways to convey a specific meaning.  Being that the most sentiment stamps I own are birthday ones, I decided to go with a birthday theme.  Here is my card:

I used gray ink on a cream linen stock for all of the sentiments at the top and I used purple for the "Happy" at the bottom .  The flowers were colored in with Copics and Kraft was used as the base.

Thanks for looking!
