Pinspired Challenge #4

Hi! It's time for another Pinspired Challenge sponsored by The Sweet Stamp Shop!

Use the above image in the badge to create a project! For mine, I used my wood grain Wooden It Be Nice stamp set (SP & Company) and paired it with some Papertrey Ink stamps.

To finish off the card, I used some Studio Calico Mister Huey spray mist.  I also used a sponge and rubbed some distress ink onto to the card to emulate that wooden feeling in the inspiration picture.

I really hope you will play along.  The Sweet Stamp Shop has some of the cutest designs out there and you could win a prize from them! Pop on over to the Pinspired Challenge Blog for details!

Thanks for stopping by!

I colored everything in with Spectrum Noir Markers and the dies I used were Spellbinders.

Welcome to the SP & Company Monthly Blog Hop!!!
This month's color is Yellow! After you're done hopping around today, make sure you play along with this month's Yellow challenge (click here for details) for a chance to win some amazing SP and Company prizes!

Have you ever wanted to be a Guest Designer on the SP & Company Design Team? Well, this month is your chance to show us what you've got! Play along with our Yellow Challenge and link up your project.  We will pick a Guest Designer that will work with us for an ENTIRE month! For specific details, check out Sami's blog and Good Luck!!!

Now, onto my cards!

The new release this month is called Poppy Field Summer.  It is beautiful!!!

I stamped the image in VersaMark and then heat embossed it with clear powder.  I went it with a sponge and added some distress ink to create a sunset look, and added some white ink towards the bottom.  I also distressed the edges and inked them, too!

A few close ups:

I have another card, too!!!

This time, I chose to heat emboss Poppy Field Summer in yellow and I stamped Wooden It Be Nice in the background.  I also stamped the sentiment onto some vellum and wrapped it around the front.  I used my heat gun to help it dry a little faster so it wouldn't smear!

Make sure you check out the SP Blog to see what Samantha did with the new stamps! And don't forget to hop around to each Design Team Member's blog - there are brand new projects with the stamps that came out TODAY to inspire you!

Turtle-y Awesome Coloring!

Hi! I hope that everyone in the U.S. had a great Independence Day!

Today I want to share a card I created using colored pencils and Mineral Spirits.  Of course I use Copics and other alcohol-based markers all the time, but once in a while, I love to break out my pencils! They give a softer look and I have a TON of pencils, so it's  easier for me to achieve the colors I want.

I knew right away I wanted to use papers from Echo Park's So Happy Together (which was part of the June Monthly Kit - soooo awesome).  I love these happy, colorful papers!!! So, I picked out the pencil colors that matched and got to work.  I do this often - I try to pick papers FIRST, so I know what colors to use.  If I color first, sometimes I don't have the right papers I need on hand and that requires a trip to the store.  :-)

I stamped the image from Turtle-y Awesome and then lightly colored the edges.  I dipped the blending stick into the Mineral Spirits (also known as Gamsol) and started blending in a circular motion towards the center of the section.  Once I have the color pulled across the portion I'm coloring, I started shading.  I drew a light source in the corner to show where the light would be coming from.  It's the same technique you would use with Copics, paint, or really any other medium.  If you have a hard time trying to figure out where the light will hit, draw that little light source in the corner.  It will help!!!

I used more than one green to get the effect I wanted.  I started with a light green, but went back in and blended in a darker green a few different times.  After I was all done with coloring, I adhered the shell (that I had stamped on So Happy Together) with foam adhesive.

For the background of the card, I stamped Wooden It Be Nice in the background and then I traced over it using a stencil and a micron pen.  I simply added the sentiment and the turtle and the card was done!

Don't forget about those colored pencils you have, hanging out in that bottom drawer!!! They need love, too.  :-)

I have a few projects to share today, so let's get started!

I'm proud to share that I have TWO new stamp sets coming out today, Wooden It Be Nice and Chevron Chase.  They are available now in the SP & Company store!!!

How great are those chevrons??!!! And I tied that bow using my Bow E-Z.  No way could I do that on my own.  :-)

I used a sentiment from Bold Sentiments III: Birthdays (also now available in the SP & Company store) along with Chevron Chase (yes, it's a play on Chevy Chase).  This card may be clean and simple, but it's elegant!!!

I designed the chevron set with the idea in mind to make it super easy to create a large background with it.  It is SO easy to line up and stamp with multiple times.

Now, onto the next card!!!

This one showcases Wooden It Be Nice and the brand new Mix N Match Sentiments: Kids.

Wooden It Be Nice was designed large enough to cover the whole background of a standard card, so you don't have to worry about trying to line up the stamp multiple times to create one background.  Ahhhh, soooo easy!!!

I used some flower dies I have to create the negative space and I stamped the Large Polka Dot Background onto the inside stock.  I love Mix N Match Sentiments: Kids.  There are sooo many wonderful sayings - there are enough to fit all personality types!!!

I have one more card for you today.  For this card, I've used all THREE new releases.

I punched out the circles and stamped them (in different colors) with Wooden It Be Nice.  The butterflies were punched out of pink and have Chevron Chase on them.  That fantastic sentiment was created using Mix N Match Sentiments: Kids and little ol' Chevron Chase appears at the bottom again, to tie it all together! I used foam adhesive to give all of the circles a little dimension.  I love subtle mix of patterns on this card.

So, what do you think? I'm beyond thrilled to be able to design more stamps for SP & Company and I really love my two new sets!!!!
