Beautiful Butterflies

Today I'm participating in Papertrey Ink's Beautiful Butterflies and Branches contest! I pulled out some of my older (but still rock) PTI sets and my own set (Journal This) from SP & Company! The challenge was to use both butterflies and branches.  I love both of those elements for cards, so I knew I had to get going on this one!

I just love the look of white on Kraft.  It's something I can't resist.  I stamped the grid from Journal This onto the back using VersaMark and then stamped the butterflies in Fresh Snow over it.  The branch was stamped in black ink from Memento and colored in with Prismacolor pencils.

 

The sentiment is also from Journal This - and was stamped onto Vellum that was die cut into a banner.  I cut out the butterfly and used it to hide the adhesive that attached the vellum from the card.

Awesome Mix Tape

Hi again!
This is my second post - yeah, I've been a busy little bee!!! I'm participating in Papertrey Ink's Anniversary Challenge.  They are giving away freebie images that are just fantastic - check 'em out!!!

When I saw this cassette tape, my mind starting racing with ideas.  I swear this one was made for my husband - we always joke about making each other mix tapes, so I knew this was the perfect Valentine's Day card for him!

I mean, who doesn't love awesome mix tapes, right?! I used some totally 80's colors for this one.  Trust me, if I had neon colors, I would have used those instead.  :-)  Anyway, I thought the bright pink and teal would work really well.  I colored in the tape and paper pieced the center section.  I also added Glossy Accents and some silver from my Viva Pen (for the screws).  Then, I created the sentiment and added those splatters using Grunge Me.

This one is really just too much fun.  I was giggling the entire time I worked on it.  I am really in love with that cassette image.  I wonder if my son even knows what a cassette tape is??!!! Hmmmm.....

Hot Stuff!

This is my first of two posts today! I've created two cards for the Papertrey Anniversary challenge.  Like freebies? Click the above link to get several free, awesome images from Papertrey!!!!

I had such a hard time deciding which images to use, but I finally narrowed it down.  :-)  This little toaster was too cute to pass up!

I added the "Hot Stuff!" because it just seemed to fit perfectly.  The heart stamps are from the PTI Little Bitty Bird set, and so is the little spiral.  I simply cut out the toaster and toast, colored them in with Copics and then pieced them together using some Stampin' Up dimensionals.  All of the hearts have Glossy Accents on them, too, for that little extra pop!

Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger

Hi and Happy Sunday!
This week I'm happily participating in Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger.  This is one of those challenges that I always have on my list, but I'm not always able to join in.  I'm thrilled that I was able to get a card done.  How great is this trigger picture?

I was so inspired by those flowers and by the colors!

 

The brown flower tempted me to use Kraft and I had to use vellum to represent the delicate nature of the flowers.  Oh, and I just happened to have a Copic that was the perfect peachy-pink to match! I just love the look of heat embossing on vellum.

I stamped those same mums that I used on the vellum in the background using VersaMark.  Pretty simple, but I really do like this card.  The sentiment is from SP & Company - my go-to sentiment set.  Oh, and my FIRST time using Washi tape and I loved it!!! Let me know what you think.

My Time Made Easy Pretty Palette 04 Challenge

Today I'm participating in the My Time Made Easy Pretty Palette 04 Challenge!

I love the stamps that My Time Made Easy creates! This challenge was a bit, well, challenging for me.  I don't often use Peach or Seafoam Green.  Ivory and Kraft aren't a problem, though!!!

I decided to make a baby card for this one.  I honestly don't own much in Peach, scrapbooking or otherwise.  Nothing against it - I just look horrible when I wear it (I'm too pale), so I steer clear of it in general.  But I did find some peach and seafoam green stock in a baby pack I had from DCVW!!! Woo hoo!!! That worked out well - not only do I have a ton of friends that are pregnant right now, I was able to use the cute Papertrey Ink Teddy Bear stamp!!!

I stamped the bear twice and paper pieced him together.  I used two PTI dies (banner and scalloped rectangle).  I also stamped the "LOVE" sentiment onto some Bazzill green stock with seafoam green ink from Martha Stewart.  I was so happy to use my new Stampin Up confetti stamp, too! I adore those little ABC's at the bottom of the card!

To finish it off, I added a PTI sentiment in the upper left corner and I drew some stitching around the edges.

April Color Combo Challenge at SSC!

The stamps I used were from Hero Arts (flower) and Papertrey Ink.  I heat embossed the flower three times, cut them out and paper pieced them together.

Absolutely Fabulous Birthday!

Today I have a super fun birthday card to share with you! I made it for a SP and Company DT call, but I also made it with a specific person in mind! First, I need to tell you about these stamps!!! Let me just say that I discovered SP & Company a few days ago and I'm hooked already.  I can't stop checking out the galleries and the stamp sets.  Obsess much?! :-)  I just adore their stamp designs - some of them seem like they were made just for me (which is cool, yet weird at the same time - can they read my mind?!)! They have everything from sentiments to frames to adorable images! My favorite thing is that some of the sets are the 2-step kind - you have a base stamp and then another stamp that goes with it... LOVE this - the possibilites are endless... Go and check them out!!!

Now, for the challenge.... The requirement was to use blue.  No problems there! I decided to make blue the accented color, though, not the focal color.  Why? Well, I decided that this card was going to go to the wonderful 87-year old woman that works with me and she loves purple.  She is just incredible.  We work in a print shop together - I'm in the Pre-Press/Design/Print area and she is in the bindery.  I swear she has more energy than I do on most days and when she laughs, EVERYONE laughs! She just has the best attitude and the craziest sense of humor.

OK, enough chit chat, right?! On to the card!!!!

I used white cardstock for the background, which I've been doing more recently.  Most of the time, I want color, but white just felt right for this one.  The other stocks I used were Kraft and Deja Views (purple).  The little punchy-punch at the bottom is a Martha Stewart punch (one of my favorites that I use WAY too much!).  I made sure the little butterfly at the top had blue and purple wings.  I used Copics for that.

You can see some of the detail of the butterfly here.  I actually cut him out twice, so there are two layers of wings.

Needless to say, she was thrilled with the card and that made me so happy.  I love watching the expression on the face of the recipient when they look at a card and realize for the first time that I made it.  It doesn't get much better than that.

A Quick Pop In with a Pop Up Card!

Sorry I've been away for a week.  I've been busy - I am now a member of the Sketch Design Team for Simply Scrapping Crafts, so I've been working on projects instead of my normal cards and challenges!!! I am so very excited to be a part of such an incredible group of crafters!!! If you aren't a part of the SSC Family, you should really check it out and join up!!! You will really be inspired and welcomed with open arms!

Today I have a pop up card that I created for an SSC Wednesday Card Challenge.  The challenge was to use a double bow.  The bow took me quite a while to perfect, but I was so proud of myself once I finally got the hang of it!!!

I also knew that I wanted to incorporate a pop up into the challenge.  I made a fun pop up card at the CHA last year, and ever since then, I've wanted to give it a try at home!  I used all PTI stamps.  I knew the Friendship Jar was the way to go.  I'm always looking for an excuse to pull that set out!!!

I colored in the pickles and jar with Copics and I added some Glossy Accents to the pickles.

This shows the outside and inside of the card, side by side.  The sentiment says,"Thanks for helping me out of a real pickle!"  Love it!!!
